By Chuck Cooper

The morning was unusually warm, at least for January. I got up and looked out the window. The sky was a Wyoming blue sky without a cloud in it. The air was calm. The wind had gone elsewhere, probably to Chugwater or Wheatland.

I smiled to myself and thought, “Chuck, God has truly blessed you to allow you to live in Thermopolis, and serve the Community here.” I am as guilty as anyone for not pausing and thanking God for all the blessings that life brings..

There is no doubt that is often messy. Sickness and even death comes. Sometimes it seems there are those who get more than anyone could possibly endure. Years ago I read about a dialogue between a believer and a non-believer. The non-believer asked, “If there is a God, why is there so much evil in the world?” The believer simply smiled and responded, “If there were no God why is there so much love?

People all time give of themselves in order to help someone else. People all the time show love where no love is warranted. Believing in God risks much less than not believing. If in the end there is no future for me what have I lost? If, however, Jesus Christ waits and longs for me, what have gained for believing? Simply put everything!
